For this Cincinnati family, we had already transformed several of their other spaces. So when it came time to reimagine their primary bathroom, they turned to Legacy Builders Group once again.
The homeowners wanted more than a cosmetic update. They were ready to invest in finishes and fixtures that would feel timeless, look luxurious, and make the space easier to use. We worked closely with them to preserve the core layout, saving on cost while reimagining every detail. The new design focused on light, flow, and storage, with a cohesive materials palette that would feel elevated yet effortless.
Before the Transformation: What Wasn’t Working
This bathroom had served its purpose for years, but time had taken its toll. The original layout featured a bulky drop-in tub with a tiled deck that dominated the room and made the space feel closed in. The shower, boxed in with heavy walls and dated framing, blocked natural light from the nearby windows. Basic storage options left little room for organization, and the outdated finishes no longer reflected the rest of the beautifully updated home.
While the structure of the space was sound, the design was stuck in the past. The client wasn’t looking for a total gut job; they wanted a strategic remodel. Something that would dramatically improve functionality and feel, without the need to move plumbing or expand square footage.
We saw the opportunity: by opening up visual sightlines, introducing custom cabinetry, and integrating luxurious, low-maintenance materials, we could help this space live up to the rest of the home’s design story and deliver a master bathroom remodel we're proud to show off.
Highlights of the Remodel: What Makes It Special
Freestanding Tub Upgrade
Out went the oversized, deck-mounted tub, and in came a sleek freestanding soaking tub which anchored the room as a sculptural focal point. A brushed-nickel deck-mounted filler adds a polished, modern touch without overpowering the clean lines.
Open, Frameless Shower Design
We reimagined the formerly boxed-in shower with half walls topped with low-iron frameless glass, allowing light from the windows to flow freely. Inside, a rain head and hand-held slide bar offer both indulgence and practicality. The quartz bench and small hex-tile shower floor add a layer of function that’s equally beautiful and safe.
Custom Vanity & Built-In Storage
Storage was a top priority, and the new vanity delivers. Custom Shaker-style cabinetry in a rich graphite finish includes deep drawers, full-extension hardware, and tower cabinets for vertical storage. Across the room, a matching linen hutch with frosted glass doors turns an unused wall into an elegant feature.
Thoughtful Lighting & Window Treatments
Lighting transforms a space, and this design proves it. A sculptural orb chandelier over the tub, a five-light vanity fixture with clear glass shades, and a recessed shower light all work together to create a layered, flattering glow. Meanwhile, zebra window shades provide privacy without sacrificing the natural light this space now celebrates.
Details That Elevate the Everyday
It’s often the smallest choices that make the biggest difference in how a space feels - and functions. In this primary bathroom, every material and layout decision was designed to simplify daily routines while adding long-term value.
Quartz Surfaces, Seamlessly Integrated
A single quartz selection was used throughout, on vanity countertops, the shower bench, pony wall caps, and the threshold. This creates a sense of cohesion and makes cleaning a breeze. The subtle veining adds elegance without being fussy.
Large-Format Tile for a Streamlined Look
We used 12" × 24" porcelain floor tile in a soft gray striation pattern to elongate the room visually and minimize grout lines. This same tile carries into the shower, where a ribbon of horizontal mosaic accent tile adds texture and depth.
Brushed-Nickel Fixtures & Hardware
Throughout the space, finishes were carefully coordinated, from the single-lever vanity faucets to the towel hooks, drawer pulls, and shower hardware. The brushed-nickel tone feels clean and modern, but warm enough to complement the custom gray cabinetry.
